Rockwool Advise Chinese on Insulation Made in Bridgend

Whilst many business's see China as a real threat to business, Rockwool's Bridgend plant has recently welcomed a delegation of decision makers from China, who are interested in buying insulation made in wales, for properties in Beijing.

The Beijing Construction Committee signs off on planning and development in China's capital city and they are visiting Bridgend with a view to investigating the latest advances in insulation technology.

Bridgend Firm Unblocks Town Centres

When utilities like gas and water dig up our town centre's it causes millions of pounds worth of delays, in man-power, services and logistics. But like death and taxes, roadworks are a life neccessity if we are going to enjoy creature comforts like sewerage and running water.

So whan a company in Bridgend came up with a solution to help ease town centre blockages, town councils sat up and took notice.

Carwyn Welcomes EU Funding to Bridgend

The First Minister for Wales has given his wholesale approval to schemes designed to help people get a foot back on the jobs ladder.

Speaking at Porthcawls Grand Pavilion, Carwyn Jones said "Improving the skills and employment prospects for the economically inactive and long-term unemployed to enter the workforce will bring increased prosperity not only for those individuals, but also for their families and communities."

Something the residents of Bridgend will be pleased to hear as the area continues to bear the brunt of job losses in South Wales.

Mr Jones continued by saying "This is another example of how we can maximise the impact of EU funding, providing more job opportunities and building a stronger workforce."

South Wales Disabled Hit Twice

Cardiff played host to more than 1000 campaigners on Sunday October 23rd, all of whom were protesting against the cuts to the disability living allowance.

Crowds of marchers brought Cardiff city centre to a standstill for almost an hour, to hi-light the 'Hardest Hit' campaign.

On the Hardest Hit website they say "Disabled people, those with long-term conditions and their families are being hit hard by cuts to the benefits and services they need to live their lives. The Hardest Hit campaign, organised jointly by the Disability Benefits Consortium (DBC) and the UK Disabled People’s Council, brings together individuals and organisations to send a clear message to the Government: stop these cuts."

Of course a great many disabled people are on benefits as a result of not being able to find work. Which is where Remploy comes in. Or so we thought.

Cardiff Council Taxes Small Businesses into Extinction

Albany Road; Once the jewell in the Plasnewydd ward crown, has become something of a cash cow for councillors looking to make up the shortfall of public spending cuts.

In a period which stretches across only 12 months shoppers who use Albany Road and its adjoining side streets was subjected to a barrage of parking tickets. 10,442 of them to be precise, raising a staggering 1 and a quarter million pounds for the local council.

Local councillor for the Plasnewydd ward Rodney Berman also, coincidentally, happens to be leader of Cardiff city council.

Cardiff Shopping Centre Kills Off Competition

St Davids Shopping Centre in the city of Cardiff welcomed 75 million shoppers in its first two years in business.

Good news, or so you would have thought.

But a local businessman believes the centre has turned the area surrounding St Davids Centre, in to something which resembles a town after a neutron bomb has gone off - devoid of life.

George Osztreicher, spokesman for the High Street and St Mary Street Traders’ Association is also a director of Cranes Music Shop in High Street.
